The Well Bar is a completely new space since the recent refurbishment. With stone walls and the original Higher Fore Street cobbles on the floor, this is a drinker’s bar.
I have been working with my brother Ben on and off for about 12 years. When I was working with him down the road at Ben’s Cornish Kitchen I mainly focused on desserts although honed my own cooking skills just in case Ben was ill!
St Austell Brewery have been great helping Ben, Robyn and I relaunch the pub. I am passionate about cooking good food that I love and want the customers at the Fire Engine to love it too – as well as enjoying great ale.
When I get time off I love to surf and play golf – although not at the same time!
I went to Uni at 19 and studied Law. While I was there, I also trained and became a Special Constable for 18 months.
I thoroughly enjoyed studying Law, however I did not want to become a Barrister (1 more year and £11,000!) and I did not want to lose my life in books.
I have worked in local pubs – the Kings Arms when I was 15 and the Station House when I was 19 as well as working at Wheal Rodney. I love the customer service industry even though it is long hours. It’s great meeting new people all the time.
